Dynamic Dog Club Therapy Teams
Dynamic Dog Club Therapy Teams regularly visit a variety of area facilities in Lake, Sumter, and Marion counties. Our teams have been welcomed at local hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, hospice, rehab centers, memory care, assisted and independent living facilities, senior centers, schools, and libraries.
The teams participate in various activities, such as charity walks, parades, Camp Villages and special events throughout the year.
The Dynamic Dog Club has based its Therapy Team requirements on those of the Alliance of Therapy Dogs (ATD) located in Cheyenne, Wyoming. ATD is a national registry which certifies and provides liability insurance coverage for therapy teams. Membership in ATD is open to all dogs.
ATD requires therapy teams pass a handling test and three (3) observed visits with one of their Tester/Observers. The team is then eligible to join ATD, become registered, certified and receive liability insurance coverage.
Once a team (handler & dog) is registered and insured, they are welcome to join other Dynamic Dog Club therapy teams on their visits to area facilities.

Attendance at these workshops are not required in order to become a registered, certified and insured therapy dog team. No ATD testing or evaluations are given at the workshops.

Dynamic Dog Club R.E.A.D.ers
After a Therapy Team is registered, certified and insured through ATD, they are also eligible to participate as a Reading Education Assistance Dogs (R.E.A.D.) team.
These Teams assist teachers at various area schools with their literacy programs. The handler and dog work with selected students (one-on-one) by sitting with them as they read to the dog.
The dogs are not judgmental and have a very calming effect on the student. Of course the handler is always there to assist and offer encouragement.
R.E.A.D. therapy teams are very much in demand by the schools and it’s truly a rewarding activity for our members and their dogs.
Please note: There are additional requirements to participate in the Dynamic Dog Club R.E.A.D. program.
